Supporting JGS-Montreal

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Montreal is one of more than 80 Jewish genealogical societies worldwide. Although relatively small, with fewer than 100 members, the JGS of Montreal has made significant contributions to the study of Jewish family history for both its members and genealogists all over the world with a Montreal connection. The Society has ongoing programs to digitize and index Canadian naturalization records, Quebec civil records (the Drouin Collection), Jewish cemeteries in Quebec, and Yiddish obituaries.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are a volunteer organization, and we welcome new volunteers. The following areas could use your help:

Although much of our work is done by volunteers, there are costs associated with some of these projects. Activities of the JGS of Montreal are funded through membership dues, proceeds from the Drouin project, donations, and the Amazon Associates Program. For more information on the society or any of its projects, please refer to the JGS of Montreal website, particularly the projects page.

The JGS of Montreal welcomes your support of its projects and programs. We can accept cheques (payable to JGS of Montreal) drawn on a US or Canadian bank in either US$ or Cdn$ mailed to:

Amazon Associates Program

Our shopping programs are a new way to fund our projects. The programs allow the JGS-Montreal to receive referral fees from certain merchants if the purchases are made through our web site.

If you do not shop online, perhaps your children, friends or family do. Please tell them about this program.

When you shop at Amazon.ca or Amazon.com, you will pay exactly the same price as you would normally, but we will also get a percentage of this price. Depending on the merchant and the product, this varies from 4% to 15%.

Amazon.ca   Amazon.ca has historically sold books, CDs and DVDs. Several years ago they added a variety of photographic and computer equipment, and most recently they have added a full range of home products including small kitchen appliances, furniture and much more. Shipping is usually free in Canada.

Amazon.com   Amazon.com sells nearly everything! Shipping in the US is often free. Some products can be shipped to Canada (but be careful of the cost and/or duties/taxes).

Gift cards are available from all three vendors and make great presents when you don't know exactly what to buy. Can you think of anything easier or better for your next Bar Mitzvah, wedding or other celebration?
