Mount Royal Cemetery is a large multi-denominational cemetery located at 1297 chemin de la ForĂȘt, Outremont, Montreal, Quebec H2V 2P9. It contains Jewish burials in various sections, but section D3 is devoted to Temple Emanu-El/Beth Sholom, a Reform synagogue located at 4100 Sherbrooke St. West in Westmount, Quebec H3Z 1A5. Phone: 514-937-3675 Fax: 514-937-7058. Temple Emanu-El is the oldest Reform synagogue in Canada, incorporated 1882 or 1883. In 1980, it merged with Temple Beth Sholom, a Reform synagogue in Montreal.
In addition to the section in Mount Royal Cemetery, which historically has served Temple Emanu-El, the Temple administers two newer cemetery sections in Eternal Gardens Memorial Park in Beaconsfield, Quebec, one previously serving Temple Beth Sholom, and a newer one serving Temple Emanu-El.
Data for Temple Emanu-El/Beth Sholom was added with the help of Alan Greenberg. Photos were taken with the help of Jennifer Wiebe in 2024 and will be submitted to JOWBR at the end of that year.
